Hoolandia has been a growing collection since 2013. The owls are all unique in the collection, contemporary, yet abstract. Hoolandia is a signature mark of artist, Mimi "Amanda" Stirn from Cape Coral. Works have been juried into art festivals, received awards and recognition through Fine Art America and have been sold around the US. This abstract painting is the inspiration behind other tree of life paintings created. Techniques include glazing, pours, drips, and a knife technique. H30" x W24" Canvas is gallery wrapped with 1.75 edging and color blocked.

My favorite art tools are knives. They are unforgiving yet clear and finite when used. Working within the acrylic family is fun, but working with modeling paste is where the art begins; free form and each application remind me of swimming. What I love best about creating art is the freedom of expression without fear of consequence. When I am able to say a work has turned out well, is actually the moment when I can return to the art over the course of several days and repeatedly be transported into the picture itself.
